Position Summary
The Behavioral Health Aide Trainee works under the direct supervision of the Behavioral Health Program Manager and BH Clinician/Director and is expected to work independently. The BHA Trainee will participate in coordinating and teaching prevention and resiliency to youth and adults throughout the Council of Athabascan Tribal Governments service area.
Primary Responsibilities
The BHA Trainee will work with the Behavioral Health staff to:
- Identify and/or develop age-appropriate, culturally relevant curriculum for community groups
- Teach and facilitate school classes (grades K-12)
- Coordinate youth summer activities
- Assist with behavioral health outreach and prevention programs
- Participate in community events and wellness initiatives
- Maintain accurate program documentation and records
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Cultural sensitivity and understanding of Alaska Native communities
- Valid Alaska driver’s license
- Ability to pass background check
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with youth and families
- Knowledge of behavioral health and prevention programs
- Familiarity with the Yukon Flats region and Athabascan culture
- Previous experience in education or community outreach
Working Conditions
- Position based in Venetie, Alaska
- May require travel to other villages in the CATG service area
- Some evening and weekend work may be required for community events
- Must be able to work in rural Alaska conditions
