Position Summary

We’re looking for a local, enthusiastic person from CATG to join our team. You will be the key link between our Natural Resources office, our fire crew, and the communities we serve. You’ll help manage fires in the summer and build community plans in the winter, all while gaining new skills.

Fire Season (May-August):

Provide office and logistics support for our fire crew’s training and firefighting assignments. Help share fire updates with communities via radio, social media, and flyers. Assist with training and cultural burning activities.

Off-Season (September-April):

Main Project: Work with communities and partners to draft Community Wildfire Protection Plans. This includes traveling to villages in the Yukon Flats to listen to local needs. Receive training in useful skills like GIS mapping and wildfire science. Help set up and maintain community air quality sensors to monitor wildfire smoke. Support communication with agencies like the Alaska Fire Service on our fire management goals.

Term

1-year contract, with possibility to extend.
